The predicted salary is between 24000 - 28000 £ per year.

Our Operational Support Officers play a critical role, providing excellent customer service and administrative support to court and tribunal users, judiciary and management.

Working as part of a team, you contribute to the overall operational, performance and service standard targets across your area of work.

You will progress cases through the court and tribunal system and support functions within HMCTS.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings; process and handle sensitive information; ensure accurate outcomes.
  • Create and update records digitally; interpret information on court files accurately.
  • Communicate with the public, judiciary, other court and tribunal users, and representatives of other agencies and organisations.
  • Support the smooth running of court proceedings, prepare court/hearing rooms and ensure courts run efficiently.
  • Act as the essential first point of contact for all court users, meeting members of the public, vulnerable witnesses and their legal representatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to work in a service‑led customer‑facing environment.
  • Good digital and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and organisational skills; able to communicate confidently in person, over the telephone, digitally and in writing.
  • Resilient and empathetic to deal with sensitive information and situations.
  • Team player; able to work collaboratively and flexibly to deliver HMCTS objectives.
  • Working Hours & Location

Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

Part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing patterns are accepted where they meet the demands of the role and business needs; the minimum is three days per week.

Hybrid working is available where business needs allow; staff must spend a minimum of 60% of their time in an office at the nearest viable location to their home postcode.

Visa Eligibility

This role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas unless the applicant has held a Skilled Worker visa prior to 22 July 2025.

Applicants must ensure they have and maintain the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
