The Business Manager will operate across multiple functional areas of the business, providing support to the senior leadership team and acting as an interface between senior leadership, teams within the function, and internal and external stakeholders. The role involves line management of staff, monitoring and improving performance, financial stewardship, workforce planning, and ensuring compliance with health and safety, financial, and policy requirements.
Responsibilities
- Line-manage staff, support their development through supervision, coaching and progression processes.
- Monitor and deliver procedures related to human resources, equalities and inclusion, performance management, and learning and development.
- Maintain robust administrative processes to gather, monitor and synthesise business performance data to support staff development and service improvement, and prepare for audits and inspections.
- Assist in reviewing and improving organisational policies and local procedures, providing advice and support to staff.
- Adhere to financial compliance policies, monitoring budgets, supporting financial planning, coordinating resource procurement and authorising expenditures.
- Complete workforce-planning tool and provide accurate information to support senior leaders’ decision-making on resources and workforce management, including regional recruitment activities.
- Build relationships with teams across the business, external stakeholders and partner agencies as a Probation Service Representative, and coordinate engagement events.
- Manage the facilities portfolio, conduct health and safety risk assessments, maintain reporting systems, and ensure compliance with health, safety, fire and security regulations.
- Respond to changing business needs, queries and requests, and undertake ad-hoc tasks to meet deadlines.
- Lead the development of pilot initiatives, undertake specific tasks and hold responsibilities as delegated by the Head of Operational Function.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration or equivalent, or appropriate practical experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
