All staff have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The post holder must undertake the appropriate level of training and is responsible for ensuring that they understand and work within the safeguarding policies of the organisation.
Starting salary: £35,875 (for a 39 hour week inc 20% unsocial)
Location: Bristol
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining safety and security within the prison
- Conducting peacekeeping duties and monitoring prisoner behaviour
- Providing support and counselling to prisoners
- Teaching and facilitating education programmes for inmates
- Building constructive, positive and professional relationships with prisoners
- Supporting teamwork and acting as part of a single cohesive team
- Working various shifts, including weekends and unsocial hours
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures
Eligibility and Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old at the point you commence employment
- Meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment as part of the application process
- Meet the required eyesight standard in both eyes (with and without corrective lenses)
- Have a suitable standard of hearing (without hearing aids)
- Have tattoos that are not offensive, discriminatory, violent or intimidating; facial tattoos generally not acceptable unless for cultural, religious or medical reasons
- To work in a high‑security prison (category A) you must have been a resident in the UK for the last three years.

Pay and Working Hours:
