Driving Requirement: Candidates must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence. Applicants holding only an automatic Driving Licence will not be considered.
Role Overview: This operational role involves directly supervising work groups of offenders serving a community sentence. It may require driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment. The post holder will be responsible for all work site supervision tasks and will work with service users to ensure all tasks are carried out to the best of their ability.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise community payback placement activities for offenders.
- Ensure tasks are carried out effectively and safely.
- Demonstrate good practice and support service users as needed.
Working Pattern: Fixed start and end time each day: 08:00 – 17:00. Regular weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) with alternate weekdays agreed with the successful candidate. May also be required to cover evening shifts. Higher rate of 50% applies on weekend days worked.
Salary & Pay Progression: The starting salary will be £28,064. The Probation Service offers annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework (CBF). New entrants are expected to join on the minimum band, and pay bands are increased annually in line with Civil Service pay guidance.
Right to Work in the UK: You must have the right to work in the UK and in the Civil Service. This role is not eligible for a new Skilled Worker visa after 22 July 2025. Applicants who held a Skilled Worker visa before that date may be considered; otherwise, you should secure the appropriate right to work before applying.
