Overview
The Business Manager operates across multiple functional areas to support the senior leadership team in service delivery.
The role acts as an interface between the senior leadership team, teams across the function, and internal and external stakeholders.
It is a non-operational post, with an understanding of Probation Service policies, Civil Service policies, and relevant working practices at regional and national levels.
Responsibilities
- Support the senior leadership team within the functional area and help ensure effective service delivery.
- Provide recommendations regarding operational and administrative requirements.
- Act as a single point of contact within the function for Information Assurance, Business Continuity, and Workforce Planning, with lead responsibility for selected areas and the implementation of new procedures.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to support partnership working and service delivery.
- Monitor performance across the function, highlight issues, and proactively pursue opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Communicate effectively to keep the senior leadership team informed of priority matters and provide advice to enable effective operation.
- Manage estate within remit, ensure compliance with health, safety and fire regulations, and escalate to the head of the function where appropriate.
- Maintain a suite of risk assessments and ensure staff understand their personal responsibilities for Health and Safety.
- Fulfil financial responsibilities including budget monitoring, procurement, and authorising expenditure in line with HMPPS and Civil Service financial policies.
- Build relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support partnership working.
Qualifications and Experience
- NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration or equivalent in a relevant subject (or appropriate practical experience).
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
- Ability to communicate and influence, deliver at pace, make effective decisions, and manage a quality service.
- Working Arrangements
The Mo J offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business needs allow.
Working arrangements are informal, flexible, and non-contractual where applicable, and arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and reviewed regularly.
The role may require relocation to a Mo J office location, which may include a Justice Collaboration Centre or Justice Satellite Office, subject to pre-employment checks.
Standard full-time hours are 37 per week excluding unpaid breaks.
