Provide interventions to people who engage in harmful behaviour to help reduce their likelihood of reoffending. Deliver a range of Accredited Programmes and Structured Interventions, including groupwork and individual work, to people subject to Community Orders or on licence after release from prison. Programs support people to desist from crime, build strengths, and lead more fulfilling and pro‑social lives.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver group and one‑to‑one sessions, creating a safe and structured environment that meets different learning styles and needs.
  • Manage group dynamics, address challenging behaviour, and ensure sessions remain effective.
  • Monitor progress, risk, and wellbeing throughout the intervention.
  • Keep accurate records and share insights with relevant teams.
  • Work closely with courts and criminal justice agencies to support sentence management.
  • Provide workshops and briefings to probation staff and external stakeholders.
  • Use pro‑social modelling to reinforce positive behaviours.

Working arrangements

The role is regionally based and requires travel to different locations. The majority of programmes are delivered in the evening. Unsocial hours payments apply for working in the evenings and weekends. Travel expenses can be claimed.

Compensation & benefits

Starting salary: £26,475, plus unsocial hours payments: 30% for evenings and 50% for Saturdays. Annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework (CBF) and annual pay band increases. Benefits include 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days after five years), pension via the Local Government Pension Scheme, flexible working arrangements, and extensive training opportunities.

Qualifications & training

Successful candidates will complete a 6‑month probationary period, including an assessment centre and passing assessed training. Training covers all aspects of programme delivery and the theory behind interventions.
