About you
This position requires high emotional resilience, sensitivity, and a non-judgemental approach to complex issues and service users.
You should be an active listener and confident speaker; able to address the court, liaise with judges, defence, prosecution, media, and the public regarding sensitive matters professionally.
As a team player, you will ensure the smooth operation of Crown Courts, intervene when necessary, and maximize judicial sitting time. Experience in producing precise, time-critical documentation such as verdicts, court orders, and hearing records is essential.
You should be resilient, eager to learn, able to multitask, familiar with process workflows, and adaptable to new digital systems and technologies.

New Civil Service recruits to MoJ are expected to start at the band minimum.
This is a customer-facing, office-based role providing HMCTS services to the public. Standard hours are 37 per week. MoJ welcomes part-time, flexible, and job-sharing arrangements, subject to business needs and prior agreement. Part-time hours are generally a minimum of 30 hours per week over 5 days.
This position is based at Manchester Minshull Street, with the merit list applicable to Bolton, Minshull Street, and Crown Square courts in Greater Manchester.
Fixed term appointments (FTA) on promotion
Employees may apply for FTAs at a higher grade temporarily, reverting to their original grade upon return, with prior manager approval. If no role exists after the FTA, redeployment or redundancy procedures apply.
Loans/Detached Duty
Terms are agreed between the home and host departments, including grade on return. Approval must be secured before applying.
Skilled Worker Visa
From 4 April 2024, the salary threshold for sponsorship has increased. This role\'s starting salary falls below the threshold, so sponsorship is limited to those with existing visas or meeting specific criteria. Please declare eligibility during vetting if applicable.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and within the Civil Service.

Hybrid working is available where feasible, with at least 60% of time spent in the office. Specific arrangements will be discussed with successful candidates.
Roles are assigned to the nearest office based on postcode, with pay scales aligned accordingly. Existing staff may need to transfer to local offices.
