General Information: Salary £28,064 – £33,549. Full time, 37 hours per week arranged as four condensed days (9.25 hours each). Weekend work required. Number of positions: 5. Location: Derby, East Midlands.

Overview: A Community Payback Supervisor leads work groups of offenders serving community sentences, ensuring they complete unpaid community work safely and effectively. The role involves driving service vehicles, supervising daily tasks, and supporting both offenders and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise work groups of offenders on community payback releases.
  • Drive service vehicles to transport staff, offenders and equipment.
  • Plan and monitor daily tasks such as clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities, planting, litter picking and graffiti removal.
  • Encourage and motivate offenders to complete manual tasks contributing to their community.
  • Support victims and the community by ensuring the work meets agreed standards.
  • Maintain accurate work logs and reports.
  • Adhere to health and safety, travel and security protocols.

Requirements:

  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence (automatic licence not accepted).
  • Right to work in the UK and Civil Service.
  • Prior experience supervising workers or managing small teams desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and ability to work with a diverse group of offenders.
  • Capacity to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional evenings.

Additional Information:

  • Higher pay rate of 50% for weekend working.
  • Compensation progression through Competency Based Framework (CBF); new entrants start at the minimum salary.
  • Working arrangement may include hybrid from base location and home within the UK.
