We're recruiting for Associate Product Managers at Justice Digital, Data and Science, part of the Prisons and Probation teams. This role aligns with the Associate Product Manager level from the Government Digital and Data Framework.
Join a multidisciplinary team researching, designing and building core services for the prison regime, enabling timely prisoner release and supporting the critical ServiceNow platform that aids front‑line colleagues. The work is challenging and rewarding, with line management by an experienced Product Manager to develop your skills and toolkit.
Responsibilities- Produce basic product management techniques and apply Agile methodology in practice, supporting the team in prioritising value.
- Represent users internally and help design user‑focused services, coordinating and conducting user research and compiling insights into product improvements.
- Work with the Product Manager to understand (and possibly set) the scope, direction, and continual improvement of a product or feature.
- Ensure alignment with the wider product area strategy by collaborating with senior PMs.
- Invest in personal development, learning the product role and cultivating expertise in product ownership.
- Engage stakeholders and communicate credibly with other PMs, capability teams, SMEs and product users; stay active in the Product Community.
- Understand and adhere to policies related to the product area, ensuring compliance with policy intent.
- Awareness of tools, terms and concepts needed to deliver a product; capable of defining the minimum viable product and making prioritisation decisions.
- Problem ownership skills – identify problems, analyse solutions, consult specialists, determine remedies, assist implementation and measure effectiveness.
- User focus – identify users and their needs, using quantitative and qualitative evidence; prioritise users while balancing competing demands.
- Agile mindset – understand and apply agile methodology to all aspects of work; thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with iterative methods.
