Eligibility

  • Eligible candidates must be former qualified senior probation officers who left the Civil Service within the last five years.
  • Have completed their probationary period and training.

Application Process

  • Successful applicants will receive a fast-track return to the Probation Service with no lengthy application form, interview or repeat entry-level training.

Contract Options

  • Applicants will choose a probation region.
  • Contract options include: Full-time or part-time. Permanent or temporary (three, six or nine months), with potential extension up to two years.

Salary

  • £44,100, plus a London allowance of £4,250 for London, Staines and Watford base locations when applicable.
  • Higher starting salaries may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Benefits

  • Full range of Civil Service benefits (excluding permanent tenure) including automatic pension enrollment and 25 days’ leave per annum, pro rata.

Pre-Employment Checks

  • Applicants must pass Enhanced Level 2 security vetting, including DBS Enhanced.
  • NPPV Level 2 for access to the ViSOR database.

Training

  • Upon return, an individualised training needs analysis will identify completed training and schedule any additional training required.
