We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as Head of Fixed Connectivity to lead the delivery and evolution of some of the most complex, secure, and critical digital services within the UK. You will be responsible for a portfolio supporting secure communications for 90,000 users across the MOD’s global footprint – including internet gateways, cloud access, email services, and remote connectivity. This includes planning and overseeing the rollout of next-generation voice and data networks such as 5G, underpinned by a budget responsibility of £340 million and a workforce of around 200 specialists.
This is a key leadership role within the Defence Digital Senior Leadership Team, demanding a blend of commercial acumen, technical expertise, and transformational leadership.
You will:
- Drive delivery of complex connectivity services and ensure business-critical continuity.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of civil servants, military personnel, and contractors.
- Manage large-scale technology programmes and ensure alignment with Defence Digital strategies.
- Act as a senior technical service owner, guiding service design, performance, and security.
- Manage commercial relationships and large supplier contracts to deliver quality and value.
- Represent Defence Digital at senior forums and contribute to cross-government digital initiatives.
What we are looking for
- A proven digital leader with extensive experience leading network/connectivity programmes at scale.
- Strong technical knowledge of networks and infrastructure (including voice and data).
- Exceptional commercial and supplier management skills.
- Deep understanding of programme delivery, risk management, and financial oversight.
- A track record of delivering innovation and driving change within complex environments.
- Excellent stakeholder and communication skills at senior government and industry levels.
