About the job Job summary The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 9,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital Army Special Operations Brigade (ASOB) is based in Aldershot, we are a dynamic and fast paced environment with highly motivated team members who are working to develop the capability of partner forces globally. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Headquarters (HQ) for a motivated and driven individual to lead the information hub (iHub). Job description The Information Support Officer (ISO) is head of the iHub and is a key member of the overall team charged with effective management and exploitation of information and IT applications within the HQ. The ISO is supported by and has line management responsibilities of a capable Information Support Assistant (ISA). The ISO provides support to the Information Manager (iMgr) as focal points for all Information Management (IM) and Data Protection (DP) related matters whilst executing the Information Management (IM) Plan and Directive. The ISO advises on the effective use of the latest Office 365 tools and applications as well as providing expert advice on improving electronic ways of working, collaborative working and records management. The ISO is the HQ Assistant Data Protection Advisor (ADPA) providing advice on DP and HQ Army Information Asset Register administrator. Successful applicant will: Have Line Manager Responsibilities Deliver information administration support to HQ Field Army in accordance with the Information management (IM) Plan set by SIO and iMgr and policy. Advise HQ personnel on the advantages of collaborative working utilising the Micro Soft Office 365 applications. Provide assurance of protectively marked (PM) hard copy data in accordance with Army policies. Complete monthly assurance checks of all the classified documents held in hard copy across the HQ including the Land Operations Command (LOC) . Validate, establish and maintain access permissions to Fd Army corporate information assets on internal IT systems of all classifications for internal and external users. MODNET Authorised Requester (AR) and Local Security Officer (LSO) managing requests on the MODNet service catalogue. Ensuring Nationality status for access to the classified systems. Site administrator for all Field Army SharePoint Site’s. Responsible for the build and maintenance of the sites including weekly assurance reports. Be the Deputy Records Manager. Be the Assistant Data Protection Authority (ADPA) managing personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR and ACSO 2190. Person specification Essential Criteria: Administrative skills should be at a high level and cover a wide range of O365 applications. Excellent communication skills, an attention to detail and an ability to manage their own workload and prioritise tasks. Outstanding inter-personal skills to work along-side Civil Servants and Military personnel. Be able to provide an excellent level of service and administrative support, with the highest level of accuracy Desirable Criteria: Experience ideally in a professional service environment. Confident in SharePoint, although training is provided.
