The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 £ per year.
You will ensure a pragmatic balance exists between operational capability and legal compliance. Best practice is promoted and continual improvement in performance is strived for. You will develop sound working relationships with Unit Safety Champions/Advisors and Representatives as well as internal and external regulatory authorities including Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency.
As the Executive Officer (EO) SHEF Advisor, your main responsibilities are in three main areas which are:
- Generic Duties
- Conducting SHEF Audits on Garrison Units as directed by Army SHEF & Assurance Policy, including producing associated reports.
- Conducting internal SHEF audits, including producing associated reports.
- Organising SHEF related Training required by Garrison Units and delivering SHEF Training to HQCG Personnel and stakeholders.
- Assisting in the compiling, reviewing and updating HQCG SHEF Documents, as well as the HQCG SharePoint site, in line with Legislation and Policy.
- Monitoring the completion of Garrison Units 1st Line of Defence Assurance (LoDA) reports and Fire Risk Assessments through use of Army Reporting Management Suite (ARMS) and ASSURE Database.
- Bi‑annually facilitating, and acting as Secretary, for three different SHEF Committee Meetings required by HQCG, as directed by HEO SHEF or HQCG Safety Champion.
- Communicate SHEF information to stakeholders in a reasonable time frame using appropriate methods of communication such as email, Teams or face‑to‑face, taking into consideration the needs of the audience.
- Ensure MySafety Alerts and Occurrences within HQCG are properly validated and investigated.
- Support problem solving and provide relevant information to support senior staff decision making via the application of policy direction or detailed instructions.
- Any other tasks or outputs commensurate with grade and as directed by line manager or branch head.
- Environmental Protection (EP) and Sustainable Development (SD) Duties
- Acting as the focal point for the HQCG Environmental Management System for Army Sites (EMSAS) and associated documents collaborating and advising stakeholders on the EMS as required.
- Acting as the focal point for Sustainable Development (SD) you are to: Capture and communicate SD initiatives, issues, risks and appropriate mitigation to be put in place to bring the risk to As Low As Reasonably Possible (ALARP).
- Communicate best practice for SD.
- Monitor SD performance against any targets set.
- Co‑ordinate and collate Reports and Returns, including Utilities Data and EMSAS, as requested by Army Safety Group (ASG)(SC) through Regional Command.
- Fire Safety Duties
- Monitor the completion of Fire Risk Assessments (FRA).
- Manage the Assure Fire Database and ensure FRA Recommendations for HQCG managed infrastructure are completed appropriately.
- Report progress of both completed FRA and their recommendations at appropriate bi‑annual SHEF Meetings.
