About You

Do you want to lead projects that deliver real environmental change?

We're looking for a confident and motivated Project Manager who enjoys solving complex problems, building strong relationships and delivering successful outcomes. You'll thrive in a collaborative environment, working with technical experts, scientists and engineers to develop innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

You'll bring:

  • Proven experience managing projects from planning through to delivery.

  • Strong budget, programme and risk management expertise.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience managing consultants and contractors.

  • The ability to collaborate across teams and influence a wide range of stakeholders.

  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

  • Water treatment, wastewater, environmental or civil engineering projects.

  • Developing solutions for environmental remediation programmes.

  • Working in environmentally sensitive locations or sites with heritage considerations.

  • Managing Design and Build contracts, particularly under NEC forms of contract.

  • Refurbishment, upgrade or enhancement of existing operational assets.

  • Navigating complex stakeholder environments involving regulators, communities and landowners.

About The Role

At the Mining Remediation Authority, we're delivering innovative water treatment and environmental remediation projects that are transforming rivers, streams and landscapes affected by historic coal and metal mining.

As a Project Manager within our Water and Abandoned Metal Mines (WAMM) programme, you'll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects, from developing new mine water treatment schemes through to refurbishing and improving existing assets.

This is an opportunity to lead projects that make a visible and lasting difference to the environment while working alongside passionate technical experts, scientists and engineers. Every project you deliver will contribute to cleaner waterways, healthier ecosystems and a more sustainable future.

You'll be:

  • Leading projects from concept through design and construction to successful completion.

  • Managing budgets, programmes, risks and project governance to ensure successful delivery.

  • Working with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for complex environmental challenges.

  • Managing consultants, contractors and delivery partners to achieve project objectives.

  • Building strong relationships with regulators, landowners, local communities and other stakeholders.

  • Securing the consents, permissions and approvals needed to bring projects to life.

  • Developing business cases and investment proposals to secure funding and support decision‑making.

No two projects are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work on schemes across England, Wales and Scotland that deliver tangible environmental improvements.

This is more than a project management role. You'll join a friendly and supportive team delivering nationally significant environmental projects that combine engineering innovation, environmental improvement and public benefit.

If you're looking for a role where you can combine technical challenge with genuine environmental impact, we'd love to hear from you.
