Reporting to the General Counsel (based in London), the Senior Commercial Counsel will be responsible for a broad commercial role as a trusted advisor on strategic and financial matters. This is a highly visible role within a well-regarded legal team. The position is full-time; applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
The ideal candidate will be an English-law qualified commercial lawyer with over 6 years of post-qualification experience, including management and training experience. The legal team advises on diverse areas including corporate, commercial, compliance, intellectual property, and data protection, supporting HR, advertising, and finance functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting strategic commercial goals
- Drafting and negotiating contracts such as game publishing, development, IP acquisition, marketing, promotional, advertising, work-for-hire, and consultancy agreements
- Providing ad-hoc commercial support and handling contentious matters
- Supervising intellectual property matters, including game clearances and brand registrations
- Collaborating with Community and Customer Support teams on campaigns and complaints
- Reviewing employment and facilities contracts
- Conducting due diligence for acquisitions
- Drafting contract templates and guidance notes
- Managing legal and regulatory risks
- Reviewing and updating Terms and Conditions and employee policies across jurisdictions
Qualifications and skills:
- 6+ years PQE as a solicitor in top-tier private practice or in-house, focusing on mobile and gaming industries
- Experience in licensing and IP is desirable
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and lead
- Proactive, agile, with commercial acumen
