If you’re looking for a career move outside of the NHS — where you can continue developing your medical knowledge, enjoy structured hours, and explore professional growth — this could be the perfect role for you.

As a Functional Assessor, you will:

  • Conduct assessments via telephone or video consultations to understand how a person’s health condition or disability affects their daily life.
  • Use your clinical judgement and communication skills to evaluate the impact of various conditions.
  • Produce factual, evidence-based medical reports that help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine eligibility for disability benefits.
  • Complete assessments typically last around 45 minutes, with comprehensive training and ongoing support provided to ensure your success.

What We’re Looking For

  • GMC-registered Doctor with a minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience (FY2 or above).
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work towards individual and team goals within a supportive environment.
