The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 7 Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) to join the Therapies team at Private Hospital Central London β W1G 6BW
This is a specialist clinical position providing expert Speech and Language Therapy assessment, treatment and management to adult patients with a range of complex conditions.
You will work closely with consultants, nursing teams, therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team, supporting patients across both inpatient and outpatient services , including Head & Neck Cancer and Critical Care .
We are looking for an experienced SLT with strong clinical reasoning skills who is confident managing complex presentations and contributing specialist expertise to multidisciplinary patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management for adults with complex speech, language, communication and swallowing needs.
- Manage a varied caseload across inpatient and outpatient services.
- Provide specialist SLT support within Head & Neck and Critical Care services.
- Use advanced clinical reasoning to assess patients with complex presentations and multiple pathologies.
- Develop individualised, evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing teams and other healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate patient management, onward referrals and discharge planning where appropriate.
- Provide specialist advice and education to patients, relatives, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Identify, assess and appropriately manage clinical risk within your caseload.
- Contribute to the development of clinical pathways, policies and service improvements.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development and evidence-based practice.
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- A recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree or equivalent .
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) .
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) .
- Extensive experience working within Adult Speech & Language Therapy .
- Experience managing patients within Head & Neck Cancer and Intensive/Critical Care .
- Excellent knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to independently manage competing clinical priorities and deadlines.
