JOB SUMMARY
To work within the RCOT guidelines contributing to a comprehensive occupational therapy service through the three core inpatient services. To work flexibly across specialities including orthopaedics, surgery, intensive care, oncology and haemato-oncology. Capable of working autonomously managing clinical caseload and working alongside other members of MDT.
DUTIES AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
This job description is a general guide to the scope of the post but may change in line with the needs of the department or at the request of the Manager. The post-holder may be asked to undertake any other project or duties commensurate with the grade of the post and as agreed with the Manager.
- Clinical Caseload: Plan the effective daily management of a caseload of patients including responding to urgent referrals and occasionally unpredictable work patterns. To work flexibly with early and late shifts. To be able to prioritise clinical work and balance other professional activities in accordance with the departmental requirements. To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment, aids and appliances used by patients. To work with the physiotherapy team to provide an efficient and effective service. Work within the Royal College of Occupational Therapy and employer guidelines and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards and monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate. To maintain accurate record keeping of therapy interventions, goal setting and outcomes measures. To correctly charge patients for all treatments and equipment issued and capture activity units.
- MDT: To communicate and liaise with other members of the health care team regarding patients’ treatment planning and promote interaction between the multidisciplinary team. Attend case conferences and clinical reviews as appropriate, and produce occupational therapy reports as required. To promote open and friendly communication throughout the clinic and specifically the Therapies department. Work effectively and collaboratively with other members of the MDT, enhancing patient centred care and in alignment with TLC values. This includes comprehensive communication both written and verbal.

- Experience - 2 years experience working as band 6

- Experience in oncology care, orthopaedics and general surgical
