We are recruiting for a Care Team Leader to provide hands-on leadership within a Elderly Care supported living service, supporting a team of Care and Support Workers to deliver safe, compassionate and genuinely person-centred care.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being visible within the service, supporting and developing colleagues and making sure the people we support receive consistently high standards of care.

The Role

As Care Team Leader, you will work closely with the Service Manager/Housing and Care Manager and take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and quality of care at the service.

You will provide guidance and leadership to the care team, monitor standards and ensure residents' needs, choices and independence remain at the heart of everything the service does.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing visible, hands-on leadership to Care and Support Workers
  • Supervising, coaching and supporting members of the care team
  • Supporting induction, probation, supervision, appraisal and staff development
  • Coordinating and monitoring staff rotas to maintain safe staffing levels
  • Ensuring care plans and risk assessments remain accurate and person-centred
  • Monitoring changes in residents' needs and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Checking the quality and accuracy of daily care records and documentation
  • Supporting safe medication practices and medication compliance
  • Completing audits, quality checks and improvement actions
  • Ensuring the service operates in line with CQC requirements, safeguarding procedures and organisational policies
  • Recognising and escalating safeguarding concerns and poor practice
  • Leading effective handovers and team briefings
  • Supporting competency assessments and identifying training needs
  • Liaising with residents, families, advocates and healthcare/social care professionals
  • Responding professionally to feedback, concerns and complaints
  • Managing staffing pressures and day-to-day operational issues
  • Providing direct care when necessary to maintain safe service delivery
  • Maintaining accurate management information and contributing to quality and performance reports
  • Participating in the on-call rota, including supporting unexpected staff absence and hospital discharge arrangements

About You

We're looking for someone who already has good experience within adult social care, supported living or a similar regulated care environment and is ready to take on greater leadership responsibility.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience delivering care or support within an adult social care setting
  • Experience supervising, mentoring or leading care/support staff
  • A good understanding of CQC standards and regulated care
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and the confidence to recognise and elevate concerns
  • Understanding of medication safety, care planning and risk assessments
  • Good knowledge of accurate record keeping and documentation
  • Experience completing or contributing to audits and quality checks
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Confidence managing staffing issues and changing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A compassionate and person-centred approach
  • Confidence communicating with families and external healthcare professionals
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic care/workforce systems
  • The ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions when dealing with challenging situations

Qualifications

Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Adult Care, Health & Social Care or an equivalent relevant qualification β€” or willingness to achieve this within an agreed timeframe.

An Enhanced DBS and ongoing compliance with safer recruitment requirements will also be required.

Previous supervisory or team-leading experience within a regulated care or support environment would be highly desirable.

What We're Looking For

Above all, we're looking for someone who can lead by example.

You'll promote dignity, respect, choice, independence and inclusion, while supporting your team to provide consistently high-quality care.

You'll be comfortable taking ownership, identifying where improvements can be made and supporting colleagues to develop their skills and confidence.

You'll also receive a role-specific training and development plan, alongside opportunities for ongoing continuous professional development.

Interested?

If you're an experienced Senior Support Worker, Senior Carer or existing Team Leader looking for a permanent opportunity where you can develop your leadership skills while remaining close to the people you support, we'd love to hear from you.
