We are currently seeking an experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to join a specialist Stem Cell Laboratory within a leading healthcare provider. This role will support the Stem Cell Laboratory Manager in delivering a safe, efficient, and high-quality service, ensuring all scientific and regulatory standards are consistently met. The successful candidate will ideally have knowledge or experience in stem cell transplantation and will play a key role in the processing, storage, and handling of haematopoietic stem cells.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Stem Cell Laboratory Manager and senior team in delivering day-to-day laboratory operations
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with regulatory requirements (HTA, JACIE, ISO 15189)
  • Process donor lymphocytes and haematopoietic stem cells from bone marrow and peripheral blood for transplantation
  • Coordinate the collection, transport, receipt, and handling of cellular products
  • Perform aseptic techniques and cryopreservation within a sterile GMP-compliant environment
  • Manage storage and documentation of cryopreserved cells, ensuring accurate record-keeping
  • Support the safe operation and maintenance of liquid nitrogen storage systems
  • Conduct laboratory testing, including flow cytometry
  • Accurately report and communicate results in a timely manner
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure functionality of laboratory equipment
  • Participate in audits, quality assurance (QA), validation, and risk assessments
  • Contribute to research and development activities within the laboratory
  • Assist with external assessments including HTA, JACIE, and UKAS ISO 15189

General Duties

  • Perform routine laboratory bench work and support daily operations
  • Assist in prioritising workload to ensure timely processing of urgent cases
  • Maintain accurate data entry within laboratory information systems
  • Participate in quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, health
