About the Role:
Are you an experienced Structural Engineer ready to take your career to the next level? This Chorley based office is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and deliver high-quality engineering consultancy services across a variety of sectors. You’ll be responsible for project delivery, client liaison, technical leadership, and supporting the growth and development of our engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead structural engineering projects, including design, site inspections, and reporting.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant Codes of Practice, Eurocodes, Design Guides, and the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Produce detailed structural calculations, sketches, drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, risk assessments, and specifications.
- Carry out site visits to ensure construction aligns with design and safety standards.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, sharing expertise and guidance.
- Support commercial aspects of projects, including budgeting, cost estimates, and resource planning.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in structural design within a consultancy practice.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D design software.
- Strong knowledge of Eurocode design for steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry.
- Experience in report writing and preparing structural calculations.
- Commercial awareness of project costs, budgets, and quotations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and other construction professionals.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of STAAD.Pro, SCIA, and Revit.
- Project management or team leadership experience.
- Working towards or near Chartered Status (CEng, MIStructE or MICE).
