An established and growing Top 100 UK accountancy practice is looking for an experienced Client Manager to join its team in Banbury. This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified accountant with strong practice experience in accounts and tax to manage a portfolio of clients while supporting the development of junior team members. The firm works closely with businesses across sectors including agriculture, rural estates, property and SMEs, delivering tailored accounting and tax solutions. If you enjoy building client relationships, reviewing accounts, and providing tax planning advice, this role offers the chance to take ownership of a varied portfolio within a collaborative and supportive environment.
The Role
As a Client Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients while delivering high-quality accounting and tax services. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of corporate and personal clients
- Reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns prepared by junior team members
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients on day-to-day financial and tax matters
- Responding to queries from clients and third parties including HMRC
- Identifying tax planning opportunities, VAT issues, NIC matters and business advisory solutions
- Supporting partners with business planning, advisory projects and tax assignments
- Monitoring workflow and ensuring deadlines are met for accounts, P11Ds and tax filings
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff, including appraisals and development
- Managing WIP, billing progress and project delivery
- Liaising with external advisers and professional contacts where required
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced Practice Accountant or Accounts & Tax Manager who enjoys working closely with clients and developing teams.
Essential:
- ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3+ years accounts and tax experience within an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation
- Experience reviewing accounts and personal tax returns
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Strong organisational and team management ability
Desirable:
- Previous manager-level experience within practice
- Experience working with rural businesses, agriculture or property clients
- Commercial awareness and ability to identify business advisory opportunities
