Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Role: We are recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the running of a children's residential home. You will work closely with the Home Manager to provide high-quality care, safeguarding, and support to young people, while assisting and mentoring the care team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Home Manager in day-to-day running of the home, including rota planning, shift leading, and professional audits.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with young people and act as a role model.
  • Ensure care plans and risk assessments are followed and updated appropriately.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Attend professional meetings and liaise with external professionals as required.
  • Deputise for the Home Manager when necessary, including out-of-hours on-call duties.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and maintaining high standards of care and equality.

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Experience working in residential care and managing a team.
  • Knowledge of childcare legislation and OFSTED standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people and staff.
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child welfare principles.

Desirable:

  • Experience in juvenile justice settings.
  • Understanding of managing challenging behaviour.
