Clinical Pharmacist (Locum)

Location: London, W1G Hours: 28 hours per week (Monday to Thursday, 09:00 – 17:00) Band: Band 7 Equivalent

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join a leading private healthcare provider in Central London.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regarded multidisciplinary team, delivering patient-centred clinical pharmacy services across a range of medical and surgical specialties.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting safe and effective medicines management, providing expert clinical advice, and contributing to the ongoing development of pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Pharmacy Services
  • Deliver a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service across designated wards.

* Work across a variety of specialties, including

  • Renal
  • Urology
  • Orthopaedic & Spinal Surgery
  • Colorectal Surgery
  • Gastroenterology
  • Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery
  • Perform medicine optimisation on admission and discharge.
  • Facilitate timely patient discharges and continuity of care.
  • Provide evidence-based medicine information and education to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Promote the safe, effective, and economical use of medicines.
  • Participate in clinical audits and medicines management initiatives.
  • Support the induction and development of pharmacists and pharmacy staff.
  • Dispensary Support
  • Validate prescriptions and ensure compliance with local policies and best practices.
  • Provide clinical advice regarding the use.
  • Undertake final accuracy checking of dispensed medicines.
  • Report medication incidents and near misses.
  • Participate in dispensary audits and quality improvement activities.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years post-registration experience within a UK hospital pharmacy.
  • Completion of comprehensive hospital pharmacy rotations.
  • Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPh C).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of current medicines management practices and national guidance.
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • IT literate with intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy clinical environment.
