We are currently seeking a highly skilled Trade Execution Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in managing the efficient execution of trades, shipping, and logistics within the commodities sector.
Position Overview
As the Trade Execution Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end execution of commodity trades and shipping logistics. You will work closely with internal teams, external suppliers, carriers, and customers to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of commodities. Your role will involve managing logistics, monitoring performance, mitigating risks, and ensuring all trade executions adhere to regulatory standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Execution & Shipping Oversight: Manage the entire execution process of commodity trades, from trade confirmation to delivery, ensuring shipments are completed efficiently and in line with market and customer requirements.
Supplier & Carrier Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers, carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to negotiate contracts, optimise shipping methods, and manage delivery schedules. Ensure timely and cost-effective shipping across multiple markets.
Cost & Quality Monitoring: Track shipping costs, monitor quality of service, and work to reduce expenses while maintaining delivery standards and compliance. Ensure goods are transported in accordance with all regulatory and quality standards.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all shipments comply with international trade laws, customs regulations, tariffs, and export/import documentation. Manage all shipping-related documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
Inventory Management: Oversee inventory management, ensuring accuracy and consistency of stock data across the trade and shipping processes.
Risk Management: Work with Senior Management to identify and manage risks in the trade execution and logistics process, including potential delays, damages, or losses. Develop and implement contingency plans as needed.
Sustainability & Environmental Practices: Collaborate with internal and external teams to implement environmentally sustainable shipping practices, such as optimising routes to reduce carbon emissions.
Team Leadership & Training: Lead, motivate, and manage a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance, training, and ensuring that all staff are equipped to handle their roles effectively.
Reporting & Performance Metrics: Maintain detailed records of shipments and trade executions, ensuring tracking and reporting on performance metrics. Prepare regular reports for management on shipping performance, costs, and compliance.
Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication between internal teams (e.g., trading, sales, finance) and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and logistics providers, regarding trade execution, shipping schedules, and any issues or delays.
Contract Negotiation & Cost Management: Negotiate shipping contracts and rates with carriers and freight providers to minimize shipping costs and optimize service delivery.
Qualifications
Experience: At least 10 years of experience in trade execution, shipping, and logistics within the commodities sector, with a strong understanding of global markets, risk management, and logistics procedures.
Education: A university degree in business, logistics, economics, or a related field is required. Additional qualifications in trade, logistics, or shipping are a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in shipping and logistics software, ERP systems, and tracking tools. High level of computer literacy, especially in Excel and other data management tools.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of international trade laws, customs regulations, tariffs, and environmental standards affecting commodity shipping and trade execution.
Attention to Detail & Problem-Solving: Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during trade execution and shipping.
Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and influence staff.
Client Management & Stakeholder Relations: Experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, logistics providers, and clients, ensuring excellent service delivery and customer satisfaction.
HACCP Training: Understanding of food safety regulations, particularly through Level 2 HACCP training, if relevant to the commodities you are trading (e.g., agricultural products or food commodities).
Hours: Strictly Office Based Role with a willingness to work outside of regular office hours, as necessary, to support global trade activities and meet business objectives.
