Full time - Senior Management Role Salary: £40,444 - £45,529 (SCP 28–33) Minehead is a beautiful coastal town, a gateway to Exmoor, and a place whose parks, gardens, seafront and public spaces sit at the heart of local life. Minehead Town Council has direct responsibility for many of the town's most valued open spaces and community assets, as well as the stewardship of Minehead's local environment. We need a strategic leader who can turn ideas into action, manage significant operational services and inspire our team to deliver excellence. We're looking for a Head of Amenities and Assets who recognises the importance of getting the fundamentals right, from maintenance schedules and compliance to asset management, while also driving the improvement and future development of the spaces and assets that matter most to our community. About the Role Reporting to the Town Clerk, you will: · Lead the strategic planning and day to day delivery of amenities and place based services. · Provide strong people leadership to a committed operational team. · Oversee management of parks, open spaces, public conveniences, recreation facilities and community assets. · Manage budgets, ensuring value for money and resilience. · Lead Council-run events, from planning and safety through to on the day delivery. · Oversee the Council's asset management system and long-term asset planning. · Provide clear, professional advice to Members and represent the Council with partners and stakeholders, supported by well-written reports and documentation. · Participate in our management rota, including occasional evenings/weekends and emergency response. Who We're Looking For This role will suit someone who: · Is an experienced operational manager with relevant professional qualifications · Skilled in motivating teams and achieving high performance. · Can think strategically while staying hands-on with day to day service needs. · Is financially astute and understands public sector accountability. · Communicates clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing. · Brings calm, balanced and decisive leadership — especially under pressure. · Enjoys variety, visibility, and shaping services used by thousands of residents and visitors. · Local government experience is helpful but not essential — credibility, sound judgement and a pragmatic, can do approach are what matter most.
