About The Role
As a Senior Practitioner, you will provide practice leadership, professional support, and supervision to Social Workers and social care staff within our mental health teams. You will play a key role in promoting safeguarding, driving evidence‑based practice, and ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities. This role combines leadership responsibilities with a small caseload of complex work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional leadership and supervision to Social Workers and Customer Coordinators.
- Chair multi‑agency meetings and deputise for the Team Manager when required.
- Manage a small caseload of complex cases, ensuring person‑centred practice and compliance with legislation.
- Promote safeguarding and act as Investigating Manager or Officer as needed.
- Contribute to policy development and lead implementation of new legislation and guidance.
- Monitor team performance and budget spend, ensuring best value and high‑quality outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with health partners, voluntary organisations, and other stakeholders to improve service delivery.
About You
- BA/BSc/MA/MSc in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification experience in social care.
- Expert knowledge of social care legislation, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Mental Health Act.
- Proven experience in staff supervision, training, and development.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage complex situations and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
- Ability to travel across the county.
Desirable
- Best Interests Assessor qualification.
- Practice Educator qualification.
- Experience in audits or research.
