Mindspace is seeking motivated and experienced Young People’s Counsellors to join our established counselling service, delivering professional, supportive counselling within school settings across Perth City and Rural Perth & Kinross. This role involves supporting children and young people aged 10–18, with some work also supporting P6 and P7 pupils within the wider community.

About the Role

  • Deliver a professional one to one counselling service within school settings
  • Provide counselling to children and young people presenting with a range of emotional and mental health needs
  • Undertake assessments, plan and deliver therapeutic interventions, and review progress
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records, statistics, and school reporting documentation using Salesforce CRM
  • Practice in accordance with BACP ethical frameworks, safeguarding, and child protection procedures
  • Work closely with the Senior Counsellor to ensure consistent standards and service quality
  • Liaise appropriately with school staff, admin colleagues, and partner organisations
  • Attend wellbeing meetings and engage fully in supervision and reflective practice
  • Contribute to service development and ongoing improvement

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A recognised counselling diploma
  • Specialist training in counselling children and young people
  • Current membership of BACP or COSCA
  • Experience providing therapeutic counselling to children and young people
  • Ability to work within a recognised theoretical framework
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and child protection in youth or school settings
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage a counselling caseload
  • Willingness to travel between schools as required

Desirable:

  • Experience of working within school environments
  • Experience liaising with partner agencies or multidisciplinary teams
