Global Strategy Manager

Reports to: Global Strategy Director

The Role

The Global Strategy Manager will be key in the creation and delivery of outstanding strategic recommendations that solve client communication challenges.

You will work across Unilever’s Beauty and Wellbeing portfolio, across some iconic brands including Dove, TRESemme & Sunsilk. You will work closely with local markets to guide local implementation and share best practice and learning.

You will work closely with, and report into, the Global Strategy Director to create strategic recommendations and support clients in achieving their strategic ambitions as partners. You will be expected to take responsibility for the strategy development process, managing up and down to keep the whole Strategy and Innovation team and local market partners involved throughout.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of working in local, regional and global media roles for high profile global brands in producing industry leading and award-winning campaigns.

Essential Criteria

  • Mindshare Knowledge: Accelerate knowledge of Mindshare, including the skills and services available and the key people who deliver those services across the wider Unilever Central Team, the regional/local Centres of Excellence and the Mindshare network.
  • Awareness and understanding of research tools, including Mindshare proprietary tools, syndicated services and publicly available data.
  • Partners and Suppliers: Up-to-date knowledge of media owners, content owners, production agencies, research companies and other suppliers which Mindshare and our clients can partner with.
  • General Skills: Excellence in communication, presentation and team building.

Desirable Criteria

  • A second language is a bonus but not essential; an openness to learn and build upon the great work of others is vital.

Responsibilities

  • Be the key conduit in the strategy team between Unilever Global brand and media teams, local media agency partners and creative agency partners.
  • Support the Global Strategy Director in the end-to-end development of integrated global communication strategies & market guidance, in collaboration with local market partners.
  • Create compelling audience and channel insights, with a special focus on social media, in collaboration with specialist functions within Mindshare WW, especially the Data Strategy and Innovation specialists.
  • Stay up to date on the latest local and global industry news and consumer trends. Support the development of relevant, resonant thought leadership to deliver back to clients.
  • Identify opportunities to include specialist functions within Mindshare WW and incorporate them into a broader strategic solutions.
  • Use and translate complex data/information and concepts into simple, powerful and actionable insights, presenting key strategic implications/recommendations to the team and clients.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the clients’ business and key challenges.
  • Arm the client teams with knowledge & expertise to speak confidently about the strategic direction (e.g., new audience definitions).
