I am delighted to be supporting a leading engineering organisation in the search for an experienced Senior / Principal Process Safety Engineer to join their UK team, based in Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to projects that prioritise safe design and delivery, with people and safety at the heart of everything they do.
About the Role:
The goal is to design, build and deliver safe assets safely for clients . You will play a key part in achieving this vision, providing process safety leadership and expertise across diverse projects containing a wide range of hazard types.
The role will involve supporting projects both as part of multi-discipline engineering teams and as part of a standalone Process Safety consulting service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide process safety leadership and technical expertise across varied projects.
- Support multi-discipline engineering teams as well as standalone process safety consulting assignments.
- Apply a thorough understanding of process safety, process design, and hazard management.
- Deliver compliant designs in line with UK, EU, and international standards.
- Mentor and coach colleagues where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Process or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership) preferred.
- Significant professional experience in a similar process safety-focused function.
- Proven knowledge of areas such as ATEX/DSEAR, PHA, COMAH, etc.
- Strong understanding of UK and EU health & safety legislation, codes of practice, and standards.
- Experience in process design (PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, process calculations).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with strong prioritisation skills.
- Flexible, adaptable, and motivated team player with a professional approach.
- Experience with European and US-specific client standards and legislation is an advantage.
