Hours: 5pm to 5am or 7pm to 7am (4 on 4 off shift pattern)

Summary: We are recruiting for a Traffic Controller to join a busy transport operation, working either 5pm to 5am or 7pm to 7am on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in a haulage or logistics environment who can communicate effectively with drivers, customers and the wider transport team. The role will involve briefing and debriefing drivers, ensuring smooth shift handovers, and helping to keep transport operations running efficiently throughout the night.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the transport operation during night shifts, ensuring drivers are fully briefed, routes are communicated clearly and any issues are resolved quickly and professionally.
  • Brief and debrief drivers at the start and end of each shift.
  • Monitor vehicle movements and support the smooth running of transport operations overnight.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, customers and internal teams to provide updates and resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate transport records and complete relevant administration tasks.
  • Support shift handovers and ensure all driver and vehicle information is updated correctly.
  • Respond calmly and efficiently to operational issues in a fast-paced environment.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a haulage or logistics environment is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with drivers and colleagues.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident using transport systems and general Microsoft Office applications.
