Manual Turner

Walker Group provides advanced high-precision manufacturing services from centres of excellence located in the UK and Poland. We are expanding our workforce and have an exciting opportunity to join our Basildon team as a Manual Turner. As Manual Turner, you will operate manual lathes to create or modify precision components to customer specifications. Manual Turner Key Responsibilities: Fully experienced in lathe (Manual Machines) Able to read engineering drawings Able to work on their own initiative but also be part of a team Cut, grind or drill materials as required Carefully following procedures and safety guidelines. Including company procedures, operating standards, and process documentation Maintain an accurate log of production and equipment problems, adjustments, and repairs. Machine inspections for mechanical or safety issues Ensure machines are well stocked with tools and material to ensure limited downtime Safety focus to ensure themselves and others are safe around operational machinery Flexibility to support production requirements during busier periods Manual Turner Qualifications & Experience: Experience of working to high quality standards on precision components Knowledge of safety and manufacturing regulations and procedures Good knowledge of general engineering practices such as measuring/ marking off/ manual drilling / tapping / fabrication set up and tacking Desirable – Experience using CNC machines Manual Turner Skills & Behaviours: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Can work effectively within a team What’s in it for you?
