We're recruiting for an experienced Optician Manager/Lead Ophthalmic Technician & Clinic Coordinatorto join a highly respected private ophthalmology practice.

This is far more than a technician role.

You'll become the clinical backbone of the practice, working alongside the Consultant Ophthalmologist, leading the clinical team and helping ensure every patient receives exceptional care.

The Role You'll be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the clinical floor while continuing to provide first-class ophthalmic care. Responsibilities include:

  • Patient assessments, work-ups and diagnostic testing
  • OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, biometry and ophthalmic imaging
  • Assisting with intravitreal injections and minor ophthalmic procedures
  • Coordinating the complete cataract surgery pathway from booking through to post-operative care
  • Providing clinical guidance to patients and supporting the reception team with clinical queries
  • Leading patient flow and ensuring clinics run efficiently
  • Managing clinical equipment, supplies and medication stock
  • Mentoring, training and supporting junior clinical staff
  • Helping develop clinical protocols and maintaining the highest clinical standards
  • Accurate EMR documentation and regulatory compliance
  • We're looking for a Lead Ophthalmic Technician & Clinic Coordinator with:
  • Extensive ophthalmology experience in a similar senior role
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COA/COT or equivalent) or Registered Nurse with significant ophthalmic experience
  • Experience assisting with intravitreal injections and ophthalmic procedures
  • Cataract surgery coordination experience would be a significant advantage
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills
  • Calm, organised and able to thrive in a busy clinic
  • A proactive attitude with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient care
