A day in the life of a Guest Service member at our hotel involves:

  • Welcoming guests with a warm smile and attentive service, making their experience enjoyable from start to finish.
  • Taking and processing food and drink orders accurately, ensuring special requests are noted and fulfilled.
  • Serving food and drinks with care, keeping presentation standards high and timing smooth.
  • Setting up, cleaning, and resetting tables and service areas, maintaining an inviting and well-organised dining space.
  • Preparing and serving a variety of beverages, including basic barista duties and refreshing non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Keeping the dining area stocked by assisting with inventory and restocking supplies.
  • Upholding hygiene and health and safety standards, ensuring a spotless and compliant workspace.
  • Working closely with kitchen and bar teams to deliver a seamless service, supporting each other for a smooth operation.
  • Being the friendly face that welcomes guests, making their first impression unforgettable as part of the guest journey from check-in to check-out.
  • Handling check-ins, check-outs, and everything in between with ease.
  • Being the go-to person for guest questions regarding local attractions or services the hotel has to offer.
  • Processing bookings and payments with precision across all outlets on the ground floor.

  • Helping service a meeting or being part of delivering a memorable wedding breakfast.
  • Working with other departments to quickly handle guest requests and keep everything running smoothly.
  • Keeping the ground floor area looking sharp, creating an inviting and professional vibe for every visitor.
  • Managing daily tasks like setting up the restaurant area or bar, serving food and drink to calls, emails, and reservations with efficiency.
  • Going the extra mile for special requests, adding that extra touch to make guests' stays memorable.
  • Displaying a Can-Do Attitude at all times.
  • Being fully conversant with all reception procedures and Marriott brand standards across the ground floor operation.

Quality and compliance include:

  • Ensuring that guests receive an exceptional level of service and will want to return.
  • Adhering to security procedures regarding guest valuables, departmental keys and float counts for car park tickets.
  • Performing bar duties, including setting up, replenishing stocks, serving guests, cleaning tables and washing glasses.
  • Setting up, preparation, service and clearing of breakfast including using the dishwasher and general cleaning and tidying.
  • Maintaining public areas including replenishing shop area and toilet supplies as needed.
  • Preparing meeting rooms including meeting and greeting clients, maintenance during the day and clearing after meetings.
  • Complying with brand, hotel and company operating standards.

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Participate in guest activities that promote the hotel product and its services.
  • Create and take advantage of sales opportunities to maximise hotel revenue.
  • Be fully aware of the hotel facilities and promote them whenever possible.
  • Answer telephones promptly and correctly to maximise business and minimise guest frustration.
  • Remain focused on sales and standards.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of local competitors and trends.

General responsibilities include:

  • Complying with the company codes of conduct at all times.
  • Performing other tasks at the level of the role as directed by your line manager.
  • Understanding your role and responsibilities in terms of the hotel Health & Safety Policy.
  • Familiarising yourself with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Proactively pursuing practices in line with Company environmental and energy saving initiatives.
  • Having a flexible approach to the hours you are required to work to meet the needs of the business.
  • Working across all departments and carrying out various duties as required.
