Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Children's Social Worker to join a statutory Children's Social Work Team in Medway on a temporary basis.

The Role

You will work proactively with children, young people and families who have been assessed as requiring statutory intervention, using the Signs of Safety practice model to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes. The role focuses on safeguarding children through effective assessment, planning, and direct work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build effective, purposeful relationships with children and families requiring statutory intervention
  • Implement and review Child in Need and Child Protection Plans, with the aim of safely stepping families down where appropriate or escalating to legal proceedings when necessary
  • Manage a caseload within a framework of reflective supervision
  • Complete focused, analytical assessments and produce SMART plans and outcome-based reviews
  • Work directly with children and young people to establish their wishes, feelings and lived experiences, using a range of appropriate tools and techniques
  • Consistently apply the Signs of Safety practice model in assessments and interventions
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with GDPR and Medway Council's recording systems
  • Prepare clear, structured and timely reports for: Child Protection Conferences, Strategy Meetings, Children in Need Meetings, Looked After Children Reviews, Court proceedings
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet service objectives and performance targets
  • Participate in one-to-one Performance Development Reviews and contribute to personal and team development
  • Promote the Council's Fair Access, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
  • Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all locally agreed safe working practices

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services
  • Strong working knowledge of safeguarding legislation and court processes
  • Confident in assessment, planning and high-quality report writing
  • Commitment to relationship-based and strengths-focused practice
