My client designs and manufactures bespoke products for the Defense & Security sector. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in the Hampshire area on a permanent basis.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
- Experienced with machinery design, hydraulics, sheet metal and precision components
- Strong 3D CAD skills β ideally Inventor
- Strong practical skills β hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing, prototyping
- Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / ONC qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Experienced designing products from concept to production
- Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
- Able to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
- Innovative, accurate and passionate about design
- Be technically minded with a head for problem solving
- Excellent leadership and organisational skills
- Able to work well individually as well as part of a team
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
- Using Inventor software for design on a day-to-day basis
- Being responsible for research, hand calculations, FEA, testing and prototyping
- Managing the full product lifecycle from concept to production
- Creating models/prototypes
- Liaising with clients and developing solutions for design specifications
- Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
- Maintaining technical drawings and documentation
- Providing technical guidance and support
- Supporting product Testing, Verification & Validation
- Supporting more junior members of the team
