The Digital Services group delivers advanced digital geoscience support by integrating industry-leading software, data analytics, and cloud technologies to optimise subsurface workflows. We work closely with geoscientists, engineers, and data specialists across the full project lifecycle, from data integration and modelling to uncertainty analysis and digital asset management.

Our team specialises in deploying and supporting platforms such as Petrel, while developing bespoke digital workflows for seismic interpretation, reservoir characterisation, and subsurface modelling. We provide hands-on consultancy, troubleshooting, and training to help clients maximise the value of their digital investments across oil & gas, carbon capture and storage (CCS), geothermal, and emerging energy sectors.

Job Summary: An experienced Geophysicist who serves as a key technical partner to subsurface experts and customers, both remotely and at customer sites. This role involves designing specialised solutions for complex subsurface challenges and actively collaborating within multidisciplinary teams across the organisation and with customers.

The Geophysicist will deliver technical instruction and certified training in Petrel software, leading geophysics workflow optimisation and troubleshooting. Responsibilities include guiding clients through interpretation workflows, model construction, and workflow adoption in digital platforms. The position also offers opportunities to contribute to technical projects in Oil & Gas, CCS, geothermal and emerging new energy sectors, such as CCS site screening, uncertainty analysis, and process improvement.

The ideal candidate brings expertise in Petrel geophysical software, outstanding problem-solving abilities, and strong client-facing and presentation skills, ensuring client satisfaction and the advancement of internal tools and methodologies. Involvement in professional societies and technical conferences is encouraged to maintain industry leadership.

This position reports to a technical team lead and frequently collaborates with international and cross-functional teams.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide technical support to subsurface experts on geophysical workflows and Petrel software usage.
  • Assist customers directly, both remotely and in-office, in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Develop novel solutions for recurring or complex support requests.
  • Collaborate with technical sales, management, and cross-functional teams to address client needs.
  • Deliver training sessions and support materials on Petrel and domain geophysical topics.
  • Participate in the maintenance and improvement of internal support processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Contribute to user adoption of software updates and assist with template creation.
  • Support clients transition to digital platforms and collaborate with data teams.
  • Maintain professional development through involvement in technical societies and conferences.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of geophysical and subsurface workflows, with hands-on practical experience highly preferred.
  • MSc in Geophysics is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Petrel software is essential.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Demonstrated capability to work effectively both independently and within teams.
  • Proven track record in technical problem-solving, confidently delivering presentations, and providing high-quality training and support services.
