Colchester United Football Club are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking physiotherapist / sports therapist to join the team and work part-time within our Category 2 academy programme. The role entails providing medical cover for the U9-16s during both training sessions and games. Reporting directly to the Lead U9-16 Therapist and Senior Academy Physiotherapist, the role will involve the assessment and management of injuries of the schoolboy academy.
Role Responsibilities & Key Duties
- Report back to the Senior Academy Physiotherapist and Lead U9-U16 therapist with injury updates and current status of players immediately after training sessions and matches.
- Have a full understanding of the club’s EAP (dependent on training/matchday venue) and relay and co-ordinate the EAP to opposition staff during matchdays.
- Provide pitch side medical cover at training sessions and matchday fixtures both home and away.
- Effectively communicate with coaches and other academy medical staff regarding players' status, rehabilitation progress and injuries.
- Communicate effectively and timely with players' parents regarding relevant medical information.
- Assess and execute appropriate treatment and rehabilitation to injured players.
About The Candidate
- Membership of a nationally recognised professional physiotherapy or sport therapy association or equivalent (HCPC/CSP/BASRaT/SST).
- A good level of experience with diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions related to young athletes.
- An extensive knowledge of the management of growth-related injuries, including knowledge of growth and maturation in young athletes.
- ITMMiF/ATMMiF or non-FA equivalent or willingness to complete.
- Flexibility with days, hours and locations to support training and matches.
- Able to work a minimum of 2 sessions a week or 4 sessions in a month.
- Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
- Approachable, interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with good communication skills.
- A full clean driving licence.
- Always have accountability and responsibility for safeguarding.
Rate of pay
Rate of pay £35 per training session, £40 per home fixture, £50 per away fixture.
