Position Summary:
The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for complex components used in aerospace and defence applications. This role involves close collaboration with production engineers, production teams, quality assurance, and customers to ensure processes are efficient, repeatable, and compliant with industry regulations (e.g., AS9100).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, document, and optimise manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Create and maintain process documentation including work instructions, setup sheets, and control plans.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams during product realisation to industrial validation (IV).
- Select tooling, fixturing, and measuring equipment to improve quality and reduce cycle times.
- Support quality department by aiding root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for process-related issues.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
- Support PPAP and IV submissions in accordance with aerospace and defence standards and customer expectations.
- Evaluate and introduce new manufacturing technologies and equipment where applicable.
- Provide technical support to machinists and operators on the shop floor.
- Ensure all processes comply with relevant industry standards and customer specifications.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3β5+ years of experience in a manufacturing/process engineering role preferably in a precision machining environment.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining (3, 4, and 5-axis milling/turning), GD&T, and tooling principles.
- Experience with aerospace/defence quality standards (AS9100, ITAR, NADCAP).
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with special processes (e.g., heat treatment, surface finishing, NDT).
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification.
- Hands-on experience with quality inspection techniques.
