Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist in Acute Care Adult Mental Health to join the well-established multidisciplinary team based at the Ablett Psychiatric Unit in North Wales. This role covers inpatient acute care and Home Treatment Team (HTT) services across Conwy and Denbighshire, providing consultant leadership within a collaborative and supportive acute care model.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced consultants, Approved Clinicians, trainees, psychologists, pharmacists, occupational therapists, and nursing teams delivering high-quality patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide consultant leadership across acute inpatient and HTT services
- Deliver psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and risk management
- Act as Responsible Clinician for acute mental health patients
- Support multidisciplinary team leadership and clinical supervision
- Participate in Mental Health Act work and tribunal attendance
- Contribute to teaching, governance, audit, and service development initiatives
- Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT)
- Section 12 Approval
- Approved Clinician status or eligibility
- Experience working within acute adult mental health services
- 10 PA contract plus 1:13 on-call rota enhancement
- 7 DCC and 3 SPA sessions
- Excellent CPD, teaching, and research opportunities
- Strong academic links with Bangor University
