Our water-sector client is looking for an experienced Civil Design Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of both infrastructure and non‐infrastructure projects within a diverse and expanding programme. This long‐term contract offers the chance to take a leading role in developing, reviewing, and coordinating civil engineering designs in a fast‐paced, business‐critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce, review, and develop civil engineering designs for water and wastewater infrastructure
- Prepare design calculations, technical drawings, and specifications in line with industry and regulatory standards
- Support feasibility assessments, optioneering, and early‐stage technical input
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and delivery functions
- Ensure all designs consider buildability, cost efficiency, safety, and sustainability
- Manage and coordinate design documentation throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide technical support during construction, resolving design queries and responding to RFIs
- Assist in ensuring compliance with CDM, company policies, and water sector standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design methods and engineering processes
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Civil Design Engineer within the water, utilities, or infrastructure sector
- Strong proficiency in civil design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroDrainage (or similar)
- Sound understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, pipelines, pumping stations, and associated civil assets
- Strong technical reporting and drawing production skills
- Experience in multidisciplinary project environments
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to work independently while engaging proactively with stakeholders
