Mindflow is a charity dedicated to bringing mental health to the heart of the construction industry. We exist to tackle the mental health challenges facing construction workers across the UK by combining on-site support, industry-wide advocacy, and the unifying power of football.
Through initiatives such as Talk Football, Talk Mental Health sessions and the Mindflow Charter, we work with employers, partners, and communities to reduce stigma, encourage open conversations, and support long-term cultural change. Our approach is rooted in connection and accessibility—using football as a universal language to engage workers who may otherwise feel unable to speak up. By creating safe, supportive environments and working collaboratively across the sector, we aim to ensure that no one in construction has to struggle in silence.
We recognise that strong candidates may bring a range of experiences. If you are excited about this role but do not meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We embrace diversity and equality and want our employees to be comfortable bringing their whole selves to work. We are committed to building a team with a variety of backgrounds, skills and views. Creating a culture of Equality isn’t just the right thing to do, it improves every aspect of our charity.
We are seeking a Head of Operations / General Manager to help shape and deliver Mindflow’s next phase of growth and impact. This is a senior leadership role with broad responsibility across strategy, operations, income generation, and organisational development. You will work closely with the Chair of Trustees and Board to set direction, strengthen sustainability, and ensure the organisation is well-positioned to grow its reach and impact.
Key Responsibilities- Strategy and Direction: Lead the development and delivery of Mindflow’s strategic priorities and long-term direction. Collaborate with the Chair and Board of Trustees to ensure alignment with mission and impact goals. Translate strategy into clear, achievable operational plans and measures of success. Support the organisation to expand its reach and deepen its impact within the construction sector.
- Income Strategy and Growth: Develop and oversee a sustainable and diverse income generation strategy, giving clear direction and support to the income generation team – around identifying and building new funding opportunities, including partnerships, grants, and collaborations. Support the Community and Events Fundraising Executive to maximise fundraising outcomes. Strengthen relationships that position Mindflow as a trusted and impactful partner.
- Finance and Sustainability: Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting in collaboration with trustees. Support long-term financial sustainability and responsible growth. Monitor financial performance and ensure appropriate governance and risk management.
- Operations and Systems: Strengthen operational systems, processes, and infrastructure to support growth. Ensure appropriate tools, systems, and governance are in place. Promote continuous improvement to enhance effectiveness and impact.
- Team Leadership: Lead, support, and develop a small, dedicated team. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture. Provide clarity on roles, objectives, and development opportunities.
- Programme Development and Delivery: Oversee and grow key programmes, including National Match-Ups and Charter initiatives. Ensure programmes are inclusive, impactful, and measurable. Use data and insights to inform learning and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong, values-led relationships with partners, funders, and stakeholders. Provide clear and timely updates to the Board of Trustees.
We are looking for someone who brings experience in a senior leadership or operational role within a charity, social enterprise, foundation or mission-led organisation, along with a track record of contributing to organisational strategy and/or income generation. Strong people leadership skills and a collaborative, inclusive approach are essential, as is the confidence to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
