The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is one of the world’s leading centres for teaching and research in conservation and heritage science. The Security Team provides an active security presence throughout the museum, providing reassurance that safety of the collection, the building and the staff or contractors working in the museum are considered at all times. Security colleagues provide the highest standards of customer services when interacting with the public, ensuring that all interactions with visitors or colleagues are courteous and professional.
The purpose of the Security Assistant role is to assist the Head of Security in maintaining a high standard of security for the Museum, its exhibits and staff and visitors, including contractors. They provide a first line response to emergencies requiring them constantly to monitor alarm systems, including leak detection, case alarms, fire alarms and personal assistance alarms as well as CCTV relayed to the security offices or control room. They also provide security escorts for objects, visitors and contractors and cover in galleries when unattended.
The role holder is also available to offer help and guidance to Museum visitors offering the highest standards of customer service and a professional welcome to the Museum. We are seeking someone with experience of security work in a customer or public facing environment, who has excellent communication skills.
