Facilities Management Assistant – General Works (Part Time)

Join the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy as a Facilities Management Assistant – General Works in a part‑time role. You will support safe, secure and well‑maintained facilities across the University Library, focusing on evening wind‑down periods and routine building operations.

Role Overview

As a key member of the FM team you will:

  • Walk set routes through the library to assess condition and respond quickly to any issues.
  • Assist with minor maintenance and make areas safe when necessary.
  • Cover entry and exit gates (Staff Entrance or Front Entrance), serving as the first and last point of contact for staff and visitors.
  • Support building evacuations and emergency procedures when required.
  • Perform portering tasks and light lifting as part of the wider FM service.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, reliable and approachable.
  • Calm and professional in routine and emergency situations.
  • Physically able to undertake walking routes, stairs and light lifting.
  • Basic maintenance or facilities knowledge (desirable but not essential – training will be provided).
