We’re looking for an EPOS & SCO Platform Engineer to build, configure, and support the in-store point of sale and self-checkout platforms across the estate. You’ll own the full lifecycle of Travel Money Kiosks, EPOS and Hospitality infrastructure, including till hardware, self-checkout units, peripherals, and backend systems—ensuring services are secure, compliant, resilient, and consistently deployed at scale. You’ll automate provisioning, configuration, updates, and monitoring so stores benefit from reliable transaction processing, seamless customer journeys, and minimal downtime. Success means stable retail operations, predictable performance, and confidence from store colleagues, product owners, and operations teams. This is a hybrid role where 3 days per week are expected on site in Bracknell.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain EPOS and SCO infrastructure (Tills, Self-Checkouts, peripherals, controllers) across Windows 10, Windows 11, and Linux environments.
  • Own the full lifecycle from initial design and requirement capture to deployment, configuration, and ongoing 3rd level support.
  • Create and manage non-production environments to validate changes, patches, and new features before estate-wide rollout.
  • Standardise and automate till provisioning, configuration management, and software deployments across the estate using VBS and PowerShell.
  • Patch and maintain the OS and application layers, ensuring systems are hardened and aligned with security and architectural principles.
  • Drive proactive monitoring and observability, using data to identify and fix issues before they impact the customer checkout experience.
  • Lead Disaster Recovery (DR) validation, maintaining and periodically testing recovery procedures to ensure business continuity across all stores.

Skills Essentials

  • Strong troubleshooting and retail support experience.
  • Proven experience designing and supporting scalable, resilient EPOS and SCO platforms.
  • Strong administration skills across Windows 10, Windows 11, and Linux (Ubuntu/Debian or similar).
