Mind in Croydon is recruiting an experienced and passionate Advocacy Service Manager to lead our Mental Health Advocacy Service. This is a senior role combining strategic development, service delivery, and team leadership.

Mind in Croydon is dedicated to promoting good mental health and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives within their local community. Established in 1967, the organization provides education, services, campaigns, and fundraises to support mental health initiatives. Mind collaborates with relevant organizations, values diversity, focuses on quality, and actively involves service users and volunteers in its work. Over the years, Mind in Croydon has grown into a prominent provider of mental health services in the region.

Mind in Croydon is seeking to recruit a full time Advocacy Service Manager to join our small, dedicated team of Independent Mental Health Advocates (IMHA) working to provide advocacy services to adults subjected to detention under the Mental Health Act in the London Borough of Croydon to ensure they understand, express and exercise their rights, and to enable them to access essential services. The advocacy team also provides Community Mental Health Advocacy for people who are informal patients in psychiatric hospital or living in the community and provides weekly advocacy service at two InMind Healthcare Group hospitals in Croydon.

In December 2024 the team was awarded the Quality Performance Mark in Advocacy, a testament to their quality of service providing safe and life-changing support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supervising a team of advocates
  • Ensuring high-quality advocacy for clients under the Mental Health Act, Care Act & Mental Capacity Act
  • Representing the service across multi-agency forums and clinical settings
  • Leading on safeguarding, complaints, data reporting and quality assurance (QPM)
  • Supporting service development, funding bids, and stakeholder relationships
  • Delivering direct client advocacy when required

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong legal knowledge of mental health, capacity, and care legislation
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing staff or leading advocacy projects
  • Skilled in complex casework, multi-agency working, and staff development
  • Deep commitment to rights-based, inclusive, and person-centred advocacy
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills
