About Us
We’re MindCandy, the creators of Moshi Monsters, the hit online virtual pet game where kids can adopt a monster, play, and explore the world of Moshi. With your help, we want to relaunch Moshi Monsters on Mobile & PC with all the core content fans loved from the original, plus quality of life improvements, updated graphics, new missions, mini-games, and more Moshi World locations for fans to explore. We’re a small but ambitious team with big plans and we’re looking for a Senior Unity Engineer to help us bring Monstro City back to life.
The Role
We are looking for a talented and creative Unity Developer. You’ll join a small engineering team, and collaborate daily with artists, designers and product folks to turn sketches and ideas into magical experiences. You will be rolling up your sleeves, solving problems creatively, and helping us deliver delightful 2D gameplay kids will love. This is a hybrid role that requires 2 days a week in the office (Tues/Wed), but with some flexibility for making those days remote as and when needed.
What You’ll Do
- Be part of the development team for the new Moshi Monsters 2D game built for mobile (iOS & Android) & desktop
- Collaborate across disciplines and architect systems for gameplay, UI, animation, and tools - always keeping scalability in mind.
- Build clean, maintainable C# code.
- Prototype with artists and designers to test ideas.
- Optimise performance so the game runs smoothly on a wide range of devices.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years professional Unity experience
- Some knowledge of Unity's 2D workflows (sprites, animation, UI).
- Experience with Unity projects for mobile.
- Familiarity with version control (Git).
- Passion for kids' games, character-driven worlds, or playful experiences.
- Great communication; you can explain tech choices to non-engineers without jargon.
Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with the Moshi Monsters IP.
- A soft spot for quirky monsters, gooey worlds, and creating safe spaces for kids online.
- Knowledge of backend services (AWS) or similar.
- Interest in modular game frameworks or re-usable templates.
- Understanding of UX design process, and experience working with design teams.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of the team reviving an iconic kids' IP loved by millions.
- Creative freedom. Your voice matters in shaping the game.
- Help build the tech foundations of a project set up for the long run.
- Flexible, remote-friendly working, with two days a week in our London (Soho) studio.
- This is a rare chance to help reimagine Moshi Monsters and shape the future of kids' games.
- 23 days holiday + studio closure over Christmas
- Equity (Stock Options)
- Health Income protection scheme
- Salary range: £55k to £65k
