Mimica's mission is to empower enterprises, teams, and individuals to reclaim their most precious resource — time and work more efficiently, with greater purpose and impact. Our AI-powered task mining observes employee actions across the desktop and categorises them into detailed process maps. Mimica’s process intelligence highlights inefficiencies, prioritises improvements based on ROI, recommends the optimal technology for automation (RPA, intelligent document processing, GenAI), and provides a blueprint for building new automations and transforming work.

We’ve achieved a solid product-market fit and are now scaling with intention. You’ll join a 50-strong team of Senior+ engineers and Product leaders who prioritise product impact over mere headcount. We have 8 cross-functional teams, including a dedicated Platform team focused on infra & developer experience. We started building proprietary ML before the LLM boom, so we don't just consume models - we train them from the ground up.

Your mission: You will be the first Head of Engineering at Mimica, leading our engineering organisation through its next major growth phase. With a recently closed Series B round and strong market traction, we are doubling the Product, Design & Engineering organisation from 50 to 100 over the coming year. This role exists to evolve engineering into a mature, high-velocity organisation capable of supporting 10x growth in usage. You will define the technical vision and North Star, introduce scalable processes and standards, and partner closely with the CTO, Product, and ML leaders — all while preserving our strong culture of ownership, psychological safety, and servant leadership.

This is a high-impact opportunity to own engineering strategy at a well-funded AI company at an exciting growth stage. Your impact will be direct: shaping how fast and reliably we can ship Enterprise-grade software, and build on a foundation that allows Engineers to do their best work. If you have experience scaling such an engineering organisation, we'd love to chat!

Part of your day-to-day:

  • Introduce scalable engineering processes and practices while preserving a culture of strong ownership, psychological safety, individual initiative, a supportive environment, and servant leadership.
  • Define and evolve the Engineering Strategy and North Star to support 10x usage growth.
  • Set a clear technical vision and roadmaps that align workstreams, technical standards, and business goals (e.g. balancing speed versus quality).
  • Facilitate organisation-wide engineering planning, factoring in the prioritisation set by each team, and advance the necessary investments (headcount, vendors, infrastructure) to accommodate needs and long-term goals.
  • Partner with the CTO, function leaders (Product, ML, Sales, People) to develop a strong product, business and talent strategy.
  • Align hiring strategy with organisational goals by improving procedures, forecasting talent needs, and improving our value proposition to attract and retain top talent.
  • Improve cross-team collaboration by preventing silos, duplicate work, and supporting coordination with Product while maintaining transparency and open-door policies.
  • Drive the development and enablement of Engineering Managers through regular 1:1s, coaching, and career progression support.
  • Build and maintain career ladders for Senior+ Engineers and Engineering Managers.
  • Collaborate with Managers on projects to advance the Engineering org's maturation, such as establishing and improving the SDLC, QA practices, and SLOs.
  • Enabling teams to monitor and improve engineering health and efficiency by defining and tracking metrics, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and leading retros on planning and delivery.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience as Head of Engineering, Director of Engineering, or VP of Engineering in a similar scale-up growth story.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills to build partnerships with CTO, Product, ML, Sales, People and other leaders.
  • Expertise in building and designing processes and standards that increase engineers' ownership and enablement in rapidly scaling organisations.
  • Track record of coaching and developing managers and Senior+ Engineers (Lead/Staff/Principal).
  • Strong understanding of how engineering decisions impact product, revenue, and go-to-market.
  • Ability to translate business goals into technical priorities, from the strategic to tactical level.
  • Willingness to adapt to an existing team culture, processes, and changing needs, and thinking about how it can improve, without breaking what has worked.
  • Knowledge of modern scalable practices in fast-paced environments & data-intensive architectures, including working knowledge of distributed systems, cloud architecture, reliability engineering, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Strong skills in solving disagreements - and experience using a range of tools to achieve alignment at all levels, and navigating ambiguity and difficult conversations.
  • Experience collaborating successfully in fully-remote working environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills - specifically, being able to articulate technical concepts and adapt your message to different audiences.

Hiring Process:

  • Stage 1 | Recruiter Screen w/ Technical Recruiter
  • Stage 2 | Product/System Presentation - w/ CTO & Co-Founder + Engineering Managers
  • Stage 3 | Live Challenge - w/ CTO & Co-Founder + Engineering Managers

Location: This is a fully remote position. To ensure effective collaboration with our team, we are only considering candidates working within UTC-5 to UTC+3 time zones (Europe & UK, East Coast US, Eastern Canada, and South America).

What we offer:

  • Company-issued laptop, remote setup stipend, and co-working budget
