About the Company:
Mimecast is a global leader in Human Risk Management, email security and cyber resilience trusted by organizations worldwide. We empower businesses to work protected by delivering advanced threat protection, data governance, and business continuity solutions. Join our dynamic IT Infrastructure & Operations team and help shape the future of secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions for our worldwide family of Mimecasters.
Role Overview:
As a Principal Digital Experience Engineer, you will lead Mimecast's Digital Employee Experience (DEX) strategy, helping to shape how our approximately 2,800 employees interact with workplace technology on a daily basis. This role goes beyond traditional endpoint management—you'll lead the holistic employee technology experience, from device health and application performance to proactive issue resolution and experience optimization. You'll combine deep technical expertise with strategic vision to advance our DEX program, implementing modern tooling and analytics that measure, monitor, and continuously improve how Mimecasters experience their digital workplace. This role requires close collaboration across IT, Security, HR, and business teams to ensure our solutions balance exceptional user experience with the robust security and operational requirements expected of a cybersecurity company. Additionally, you will serve as a key contributor to our corporate network infrastructure, collaborating with IT team members to support and evolve our network services.
What You'll Do:
- Own and evolve Mimecast's Digital Employee Experience (DEX) strategy, defining the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for how employees interact with workplace technology across all device types.
- Champion a unified approach to employee experience through collaboration across IT, HR, and Workplace Services, establishing shared metrics and desired outcomes.
- Design, implement, and continuously optimise endpoint management platforms including Microsoft Intune, Jamf Pro, and Automox to support Mimecast's global hybrid workforce.
- Lead Mimecast's mobile device management strategy balancing robust data protection with support for employees' preferred way of working.
- Develop and execute comprehensive patching and software management strategies, balancing security compliance with minimal disruption to end-user productivity.
- Partner closely with the Security team to integrate endpoint and mobile management with security platforms including CrowdStrike EDR and Netskope SASE, ensuring solutions meet Mimecast's security requirements while maintaining zero-trust posture and seamless user experiences.
- Build automation, self-healing capabilities, and self-service solutions including AI-powered intelligent assistance to reduce digital friction and improve operational efficiency.
- Champion a proactive, data-driven approach to IT operations—identifying and resolving issues using AI-driven analytics before they impact employees rather than reacting to tickets.
- Manage the full vendor lifecycle for endpoint, mobile, and DEX solutions: evaluation, selection, proof-of-concept, deployment, and renewal negotiations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including architecture diagrams, experience playbooks, and continuous improvement procedures.
- Partner with IT leadership and the wider Infrastructure team to support Mimecast's corporate network infrastructure, including office LAN/WAN, firewalls, core network services (DNS, DHCP, NTP), and Netskope SASE deployment.
- Contribute to network design, troubleshooting, and operational support, working collaboratively to maintain reliable connectivity for Mimecast's global hybrid workforce.
- Engage with business stakeholders across IT, Security, HR, and end-user communities to understand Mimecast's evolving needs and continuously enhance the digital employee experience.
What You'll Bring:
- Significant experience in enterprise endpoint management across Windows and macOS platforms at scale (1,000+ devices), with a demonstrated focus on user experience outcomes.
- Extensive hands-on expertise with Microsoft Intune and Jamf Pro, Apple Business Manager, including device provisioning, policy management, application deployment, and compliance reporting.
- Strong experience with mobile device and application management for iOS and Android, including familiarity with MAM-WE, app protection policies, and BYOD enablement strategies.
- Experience with DEX/experience monitoring platforms (Nexthink, Lakeside, ControlUp, 1E, or Tanium) is highly desirable—or demonstrated passion to build this capability.
- Strong proficiency with patch management and software deployment tools such as Automox, SCCM, or similar platforms.
- Proven experience integrating endpoint management with EDR platforms (CrowdStrike preferred) and SASE/SSE solutions (Netskope preferred).
- Advanced scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python to streamline operations, enable self-healing, and ensure consistency.
- Solid foundation in networking concepts and hands-on experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, VPN technologies, and enterprise wireless infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of AWS networking (VPCs, Transit Gateway) and cloud-native infrastructure concepts.
- Experience implementing zero-trust frameworks, conditional access policies, and security-first endpoint architectures.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate telemetry data into actionable insights and business recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Security teams, balancing user experience priorities with security and compliance requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with a focus on delivering outstanding employee experiences.
About You:
You bring both deep technical expertise and a human-centric mindset to everything you do. You're energised by the challenge of making technology invisible—creating experiences so seamless that employees can focus entirely on their work rather than their tools. You understand that modern IT is measured not by uptime alone, but by how employees feel about their digital workplace. Working at a cybersecurity company, you appreciate that exceptional user experience and robust security are not opposing forces but complementary goals that require thoughtful collaboration across teams. You're equally comfortable diving deep into technical troubleshooting, analysing experience data to identify trends, and presenting strategic recommendations to leadership that align technology investments with business outcomes.
What We Bring:
Join our Network team to accelerate your career journey, working with cutting-edge technologies and contributing to projects that have real customer impact. You will be immersed in a dynamic environment that recognizes and celebrates your achievements. Mimecast offers formal and on-the-job learning opportunities, maintains a comprehensive benefits package that helps our employees and their family members to sustain a healthy lifestyle, and importantly - working in cross functional teams to build your knowledge.
Our Hybrid Model:
We provide you with the flexibility to live balanced, healthy lives through our hybrid working model that champions both collaborative teamwork and individual flexibility. Employees are expected to come to the office at least two days per week, because working together in person:
- Fosters a culture of collaboration, communication, performance and learning.
