We’re recruiting a Data and Placement Officer to join us at Milton Keynes City Council. This is a rewarding role where your work directly supports children and young people to access the right education at the right time.
Our Data and Placement team is responsible for all legal processes linked to the assessment and review of Education, Health and Care plans. The team also completes all statutory data returns, including SEN2, and ensures our systems hold accurate, up‐to‐date information. This work is vital to the council’s financial stability, reputation and, most importantly, to making sure children and young people are placed in suitable education settings without delay. You’ll play a key part in protecting outcomes for families across the city.

Main Responsibility- Managing statutory data returns, including the SEN2 return and SEND census, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Coordinating education placements for children and young people under assessment or with an Education, Health and Care plan, including phased transfers and in‐year changes.
- Maintaining accurate records on our case management system and wider data trackers, working with colleagues to resolve any data issues.
- Supporting oversight of funding and financial data linked to Education, Health and Care plans, personal budgets and placements.
- Analysing data to support service improvement and wider Special Educational Needs and Disabilities projects.
- Providing administrative support to the team, handling sensitive information with care and professionalism.
- Experienced in working with data to inform decision‐making and service delivery.
- Confident using digital systems, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to learn new databases.
- Highly organised, able to plan ahead, prioritise work and pay close attention to detail.
- A clear and confident communicator who works well with colleagues across different teams.
- Resilient, flexible and comfortable working in a changing service environment.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
